Autumn Dynasty
Finally a worthy Game App from Singapore worth the mention and time!
Autumn Dynasty is a beautiful, clever strategy game for the iPad.
Autumn Dynasty began life as the work of a group of ridiculously over-achieving bright spots at the National University of Singapore,
And If you've got an iPad and you loveeeeeee strategy games, I seriously
recommend giving Autumn Dynasty a go. It's an RTS set in feudal China. You're tasked with saving your
Empire from civil war with judicious use of swordsmen, pikemen,
archers, horsemen and catapults.
The game is beautifully optimised for the iPad's touchscreen.
Finger-strokes let you draw a path for units to traverse to their
destination, a circle lets you select more than one unit at once,
and two fingers, slightly apart, let you scan around the map.
The key is construction sites. As you play, you'll come across
places where you can spend gold to build farms, camps, forts and
towers. Farms increase your gold income, camps let you field more
units at once, forts let you build new units and towers let you
fortify defensive positions. The challenge is in balancing up the
needs of a situation with the few building sites in your possession
-- especially when that situation changes over the course of a
battle.
It's not just a single-player experience, either. You can play
multiplayer games through the web or over Bluetooth, complete with
voice chat, and if you do exhaust the story-based single-player
campaign then it's simple to set up skirmish matches against AI
opponents.
All of this is rendered in a heart-meltingly beautiful cross
between a battle map and an oriental landscape painting, complete
with brushstrokes on a canvas. The detail packed in is impressive
-- units have distinct personalities, and it's easy to tell how
well or badly a battle is going with a short glance. Best of all,
it doesn't bombard you with demands to buy additional freemium
items constantly -- what you see is what you get.
The game started life as a student project at the National
University of Singapore, which was a finalist in the
2009 Independent Games Festival China student competition. It
didn't win, but the team became part of Singapore-based studio Touch Dimensions, who
teamed up with Bulkypix to
bring it to the App Store.
It comes in
at a mere £2.99 for a limited time post-release, but expect
that to jump up after a while. For fans of beautiful, deep,
strategy games that you can get lost in, it comes highly
recommended.

Mother's Day 2012 Film
For us children, our mother's nagging can be a frustrating, constant
annoyance. However, when her presence is no longer felt, these words
become our strongest source of comfort and affection. It is then that
we learn to hold on tightly to these warm, faint traces of memories.

All of us from Blotch Studios are entering college this year, and most of us are leaving Singapore to pursue our education overseas. This is a turning point for many of us, where we mature from teenagers to young adults, spread our wings and leave our homes. As time passes, we grow up and our parents grow old. With Mother's Day just round the corner, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank our mothers and show them our gratitude.
This film is a tribute to all mothers of the world. There are times when we may not appreciate your presence, but we will always feel your absence. Although we may not agree on everything, we thank you for your unconditional, everlasting love and dedication, for bringing us into this world and for showing us what it means to be a selfless pillar of our families.
Do us and yourselves a favour, and show this film to your mothers. Better still, enjoy it with them.
If you like it, remember to share it!
Thank You.
