Tumblr and Twitter

Fast Blogging? If you want to share multimedia content and meet like-minded people, try Tumblr. I first got introduced by Tumblr when I went for a visual design graduation show where I see alot of graduates using it. Fast-rising Tumblr is a content-sharing and blogging website. Like Twitter, it encourages users to write succinctly in short posts. However, it does not impose Twitter's 140-character-per-post limit and allows multimedia content - pictures, music, videos, quotes and more to be shared.
Its best attributes: Intuitive, easy to use and a one-stop place to find content shared by others with the same interest.

How to get started?
Sign up for an account with your e-mail address. Pick an URL for your blog - for example, www.example.tumblr.com
Start by uploading your picture to be used as your avatar. Then, follow the steps and install ready-for-use themes. Those who know HTML can customise the themes.

Find and follow others
Blogs with topics ranging from photography to gaming and even typography can be easily browsed on the Directory page.
Follow your favourite blogs by clicking the "+" sign. Posts from the blogs you are following will now appear in real time on your dashboard.

Main features
Posting and sharing content
To post, indicate the type of content by choosing one of the seven options at the top of your dashboard. These options include text, photo, quote, link and audio. You can also "reblog" or "like" posts you come across.

Asking Readers
Planting a question mark at the end of your posts or in their titles will prompt an option to "Let people answer this", You can also choose to "Let people photo reply" to your posts. Replies will appear as threads in the post's Notes

Multiple blogs under one account
Those with a number of interests can create multiple blogs and invite co-bloggers to contribute to each secondary blog.
Protect your privacy
Your primary blog is open for all to view. However, you can restrict access to your secondary blogs using passwords. You can also choose to make private posts.

Power Tips
Invite the community to comment
You can turn on the Ask and Submit functions to invite visitors to ask you a question or send you content. A third-party add-on called Disqus can be added to solicit comments to your posts.
Bump it up with features
Go to the Goodies page to find more features to make Tumblr do more for you. For instance, you can integrate your Tumblr posts with other social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Twitter
Main features: Tweeting
Ready to send your first tweet? You can write anything, as long as it is within 140 characters. To reply to another user, start your tweet by typing the character "@", followed by the user's name. Your tweet will automatically be sent to the user as well as those who are following both of you.

Another way to interact with another user is through Mention. Type the character "@", followed by the user's name anywhere in your tweet. Your tweet will be published like a regular one in this case.
To increase your tweet's visibility, you can add a hashtag (#) in front of your topic's title. For instance, typing "#food" means your tweets can be searched and will be associated with the keyword "food".

Sharing content and tweets
To share Web or media content with others, you can send them short URLs instead of regular ones. Services from Tinyurl and Bit.ly will help you do this. Simply paste the original URLs into these applications and they will generate the shortened URLs for you to use.

You can also share photos and videos by uploading them to Twitpic and TwitVid. Add tweets you enjoy to your Favourites folder or retweet them to share with your followers.

Powertip
Intergrate Twitter with other social networks:
Use Twitter's application for Facebook to allow tweets to appear as status updates. Add a appear as status updates. Add a Twitter widget on your blog for visitors to read your tweets.

Do more with other Twitter clients
Third-party Twitter clients can help improve your social networking experience. Try TweetDeck for Desktop (www.TweetDeck.com).

Cosplaying as Tomb Raider's Lara Croft

Tomb Raider's Lara Croft Cosplay, Lara Croft the gun-wielding girl. Before Nathan Drake, There was only one treasure hunter who ruled the Consoles it was none other than Croft, Laura Croft the one and only!!

So who exactly is Lara Croft?
Lara Croft is the main protagonist of the Square Enix (previously Eidos Interactive) video game series Tomb Raider. She is presented as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic English archaeologist-adventuress who ventures into ancient, hazardous tombs and ruins around the world. Created by UK developer: Core Design that included Toby Gard, the character first appeared in the 1996 video game Tomb Raider.

 dd hokuto no ken
She has also appeared in video game sequels, printed adaptations, a series of animated short films, feature films (portrayed by Angelina Jolie((woot!!)), and merchandise related to the series. Official promotion of the character includes a brand of apparel and accessories, action figures, and model portrayals. Croft has also been licensed for third-party promotion, including television and print advertisements, music-related appearances, and as a spokes model. Core Design handled initial development of the character and the series. Inspired by pop artist Neneh Cherry and comic book character Tank Girl, Gard designed Lara Croft to counter stereotypical female characters. The company modified the character for subsequent titles, which included graphical improvements and game play additions.

American developer Crystal Dynamics took over the series after the 2003 sequel Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness was received poorly. The new developer rebooted the character along with the video game series. The company altered her physical proportions, and gave her additional ways of interacting with game environments. Croft has been voiced by five actresses in the video game series: Shelley Blond (1996), Judith Gibbins (1997-1998), Jonell Elliott (1999-2003), Keeley Hawes (2006-2010) and Camilla Luddington, who will voice Croft in upcoming titles. Lara Croft has become a sex symbol for video games, despite Toby Gard’s intentions for her to be sexy “only because of her power”. She holds six Guinness World Records, has a strong fan following, and is among the first video game characters to be successfully adapted to film.

Movies
Manga: Unavaible yet

Lara Croft is also considered a sex symbol, one of the earliest in the industry to achieve widespread attention. The character’s influence in the industry has been a point of contention among critics; viewpoints range from a positive agent of change in video games to a negative role model for young girls. .

Lara was born on February 14, 1968 and is the only child to Lord Henshingly and Lady Elizabeth Croft.  She was born in Wimbledon, London.  Lara had a fairly privileged upbringing, even so far as to attend finishing school to refine her manners.  Homeschooled until the age of eleven, she would attend Wimbledon Private School until the age of sixteen when her parents decided she should be enrolled in Gordonstoun, one of the highest caliber boarding schools in Europe.
While she was there she gained an interest in both rock climbing and in archaeology, the latter after a lecture from famed archaeologist Werner Von Croy.  Inspired by both this experience and seeing as written account of his exploits she demanded to her parents that she be allowed to accompany him to Asia on an expedition.  He agreed that she could go, but the experience ended poorly as he accidentally triggered a trap inside of a tomb, from which she was forced to abandon him in order that she not perish as well (though it is later revealed that he lived.)  After turning eighteen, she was sent to another school in Switzerland and an arranged marriage had her betrothed to the Earl of Farrington so that her place in English high society be set.
This marriage was not meant to be however, as at the age of twenty one and after graduating her class arranged a trip to Asia, but their airplane crashed in the Himalayas.  Lara was the sole survivor of the plane crash and was forced to fend for herself through the harsh environment, eventually walking in to the village of Tokakeriby two weeks later.  This brought about a change in her as she discovered she possessed more ability and tenacity than she knew during this ordeal and cast off her role in British high society, choosing instead to travel the world in search of adventure, artifacts and knowledge.  Although disowned by her family, she made her own name for herself as one of the world’s most famous archaeologists. Her archaeological discoveries are extensive, including the Ark of the Covenant, the Scion (a mysterious object from Atlantis), Excalibur, and the Dagger of Xian (a magical blade from China that gives the bearer the power of a dragon).
Though it should be noted,  with the upcoming Tomb Raider game the usual lines of information doesn’t connect with the past Tomb Raider storyline so basically it doesn’t apply. Which leaves us with the fact that the new Tomb Raider that is on it’s way to consoles in 2013 will be a completely rebooted orgin story. But if you’ve viewed the video montage above, new or old information I think we all can agree that Laura Croft is still an female Icon of BadAssery and BadAss Wednesday!!

Kamen Rider Decade

Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) was one of my childhood favourite show. There's numerous series of different riders but most of them are either Grasshopper or insect-looking heroes, jumping around and throwing their kicks and punches. Now there is this series which combines tons of these Kamen Riders together in this "Rider War". Don't you just love it when you see collaborations like this?
